After-School volunteers helped prepare our beds and plant a school garden in ASP this week. Students planted tomatoes, tomatillos, summer squash, kitchen herbs, melons, chilis, strawberries, and native California pollinator plants among other things. In ASP Kindergarteners discussed Earth's Layers in a tasty new way with
Layered pudding cups last Friday.
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade had an awesome time at Nutcher Milk Company today. We learned where milk comes from, got to sample some fun flavors and even got to watch a calf being born.
Today our kindergartners worked with their 8th grade study buddies to do an experiment on gravity and friction using ramps and toy cars.
6th graders enjoyed reading their fantasy stories to the kindergarten class yesterday.
6-8 grade had an amazing time at Alcatraz today!

Lego Robotics at Shiloh ASP!🤖 Yesterday our students began a six-week
Lego robotics program we are offering in partnership with MJC's Community Ed./ STEM department. Please allow your ASP students to participate by attending on Wednesdays and throughout the week. As it is a class, attendance is essential to not miss ongoing instruction and project building.
Today 6th and 7th graders met to exchange stories. The same set of silly pictures were given to each class. The students wrote a story that was inspired by the picture. Today they met with the student in the other grade that had the matching picture. Some students were surprised to hear a completely different story from their partner, even though both students used the same photo!
ASP Upper-Graders finished their 10-week Project Lift Cooking Program with Chef Gloria today. Today's menu: Panda Express-Style Orange Chicken and rice.
Today in Shiloh ASP! Our K-5th grade students participated in Flexi-Fit Kids Yoga with Ms. Sonja visiting us from Village Yoga Center in McHenry Village.
Fun Friday at Shiloh ASP! Our upper-graders baked whoopie pies filled with green marshmallow fluff for St.Patrick's Day, we painted the birdhouses we've been working on and despite the weather a small group of us learned about and built a rocket we plan to launch after homework later today.
ASP's Project LIFT Cooking program led by Chef Gloria with our 6-8th graders making a Crispy Tortilla bean and corn Salad with honey-lime vinaigrette.
8th graders worked on a science lab today investigating transverse and longitudinal waves. No rain today to we were able to do our lab outdoors!
6-8 grades have their final basketball game on Thursday 3/9. Come and join us in the Shiloh Gym. The first game starts at 10:30 AM.

Today the 7th graders conducted an experiment with a chemical reaction. The students dropped an antacid tablet into a flask and covered it with a balloon. They were able to observe the chemical reaction, including the creation of carbon dioxide that filled the balloon.
Our Winter Wonderland dance has started! We are looking forward to having our first dance of the year!

Another year will soon be at an end, becoming our memories of 2022. But before we look forward to the new adventures that 2023 will bring, on behalf of all of us at Shiloh School, I want to extend a heartfelt, “Thank You,” for all that you’ve done in 2022 to support Shiloh School. Thank You for your patience during difficult times and in being ready to return when we needed you most. Thank you for the appreciation you’ve shown. Thank you to everyone who made donations and purchases for our Spaghetti Dinner & Fall Carnival Night that helped to raise more than $8,000 for our student activity fund which has already sent students to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium and The Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, with others scheduled for 2023! Lastly, thank you, for joining us for our Christmas Program for an enjoyable evening bringing holiday cheer. When we look out into the crowd and see so many former Shiloh students return to enjoy in the same moments with their children that they shared with their parents before them, moments that you have returned to share with all of us at Shiloh School, we want you to know that we appreciate you, too!
